View Full Version : Why is assembler shown instead of source code?

1. You may be focused on a stack frame not compiled with debugging information (-g), this is often the case when you stop the program while it is in a system call.

2. Check to make sure that you compiled the object files you want to debug with -g.

3. If you are using the IBM compiler, use the compiler option -qfullpath, so that the compiler puts path information in the debugging information.

4. You may have started TotalView on an MPI launcher program such, for example poe or mpirun, and have not started it yet. Press GO, so that the launcher can launch your code.

5. The compiler may be emitting source/path information or you may have moved your source files. In this case, Set the search path for directories with the File > Search Path command in the Process Window. If you set a search
path, TotalView doesn't descend into subdirectories below what
you set. The Chapter 2 of the "TotalView Command Line Guide"
contains a sample Tcl macro that will descend into subdirectories,
setting search paths as it descends.
