I have some code PVWAVE code from a VAX that I need to port to Linux. One of the functions of the program is to read some VAX Floating Point binary data and do calculations. Is there a known solution to the problem of reading VAX FP data in PV WAVE for Linux?
Thanks - Pete Briggs

Hi Pete,

Do you which VAX floating point: Gfloat or Dfloat? And do you know what language was used to create the files: VAX Fortran or VAX C?

The PV-WAVE code you use today might have keywords in the OPENR statement to help answer the second question...

The data are in Vax G floating point. Not sure which language created the data file (it may have been pv-wave)

I found the answer to my own question. In the <wave>/lib/users (or something smilar) is a .pro named data_convert that converts from anything to anything, mostly.
