I have installed TotalView Debugger (Linux x86-64) and got a student license. When i try to debug a CUDA program, the warning message shows that there is no license available to debug CUDA threads. I want to know if this is because of the student edition or someting wrong occurred during the installation. And what could I do to solve this problem.

Thanks a lot!

Sorry for the long delay. We don't get notified when there's a new post.

Student licenses do not cover CUDA debugging. Depending on the machine you are debugging on, that capability might be moot. On most of the Nvidia GPU's, attempting to debug a CUDA program would likely not work as the GPU is being used to power the display, so attempting to debug a CUDA program gets flagged with a message to the effect that the device is watchdogged. Newer devices allow context switching, so it might work with those. Depending on the machine you are using, there may be workarounds, but not with a student license. Sorry about that.
