Hi,

My company is running PV-Wave 8.51b (build 2541) on RHEL and I am having a bit of trouble (I am a complete PC-Wave newbie).

I am trying to run the application remotely using SSH with X11 forwarding. I can run Navigator just fine remotely. However, whenever I try to run our app or even the PV-Wave demo, I get errors such as the following:

% WTSET: Invalid Widget specified.
% At WWTEXT <wwtext.pro( 282)> (WTSET).
% Called from BLURB_BOX <blurb_box.pro( 83)>.
% Called from WD_DEMO <wd_demo.pro(1223)>.
% Called from WAVE_GALLERY3 <wave_gallery3.pro( 28)>.
% Called from WAVE_GALLERY <wave_gallery.pro( 5)>.
% Called from DEMO <demo.pro( 6)>.
% Called from $MAIN$ .

I am using X-Deep/32 4.6.5 as the X server on WinXP 64. Is there anything I am missing? Many other apps such as Mozilla, Gedit and xterm seem to work fine using this remote method, and like I said the Navigator works OK. The application works OK when I am on the Linux machine locally. I've been practicing google-fu all morning to no avail. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Rich

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems. We run PV-WAVE with X forwarding quite often although we run with a different X Server package.

It would appear to me that something is preventing the motif windows in question from being raised.

Can you please try running the following command? (Try it both before and after you get this error.)

info, /Device

Thanks!

Hi Ryan,

It must be a problem with X-Deep/32, I found another X-server for Windows called XMing and the demo works fine now.

Thanks,
Rich

Glad to hear it is working now! I was expecting it was an X server problem.
