Migrating VS6 to VS2005, can the RW Libraries used in VS6 be used in VS2005

I've had play with the settings as I've copied over the RW Libs and Headers into the VS2005 envronment but once I do that I get errors like

2>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\rw\generic.h(91) : error C4430: missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int

2>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\xstring(32) : warning C4346: '_Alloc::difference_type' : dependent name is not a type
4>c:\program files\microsoft visual studio 8\vc\include\xstring(467) : error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier '_Alty'

The xstring error seems to be the majority of the problem ... is this because the code base we're moving from is using old standards that are no longer supported
