Mail class and standards

I have been using RWMime classes to send HTML enabled messages and more. One issue that has started me looking for alternatives is the fact that the smallest deviation from standards results in messages being treated as spam. And even functions as preemble in Mime messages are sometimes treated as spam by some filters.
Do you have any guides on what to be aware of regarding getting your messages identified as spam, the codeing and user guide are not enough.

Officially we don't have any guidelines or specific methods for avoiding being marked as spam. I would suggest testing your messages against something like SpamAssassin (http://spamassassin.apache.org/). If you have it mark up your entire email with any problems it should help you avoid problems that make your email look like spam.
