View Full Version : Where are changes from PvWave v8.5 to 9.0?

Don't you have a list of routines changed from 8.5 to 9.0?
I've already run into changes to lfstat and lfpoint_lun
I need to know what's changed - I can't find them all by randomly running
1100+ routines.

You may find information that you are looking for in the <VNI_DIR>/wave directory. See the following two files named as ?Release_Notes" (which contains summary of technical changes that make the latest version of PV-WAVE) and "Update_Notice" (contains a list of bug fixes).

PV-WAVE download page is also a good source of general and specific information that can be accessed from the following link: http://www.vni.com/products/wave/pvwave/download.php

nowhere can I find ANY reference to the lfstat and lfpoint_lun
function call changes, including release notes and tech tips
This seems to be a fundamental item in any major release.
even in the reference guide, there is NO mention that these functions are any
different from previous versions! changing from double to string is a major change, and should have been a new routine -- vlfstat or something.

How can I be sure there are no other routines with significant changes which
may effect my 1000's of routines in perhaps subtle ways?

Doesn't ANYBODY have a list??

I share your frustration, gloefer. The VNI documentation is not always what it should be. I don't have a master list, but here are link to the Release Notes:

And the New Features document:

LFSTAT and LFPOINT_LUN are undocumented functions (see here (http://www.vni.com/cgi-bin/tipsengine.pl?id=203&formType=GET&kw=undocumented&type=AND&int=FALSE&inh=FALSE)).

RUSAGE is also undocumented (http://www.vni.com/cgi-bin/tipsengine.pl?id=322&formType=GET&kw=undocumented&type=AND&int=FALSE&inh=FALSE).

Sorry I'm not much help.

LFPOINT_LUN was never officially released and therefore undocumented prior to PV-WAVE 9.0.
We offered this routine to our customers as an interim solution.
The position parameter was of type DOUBLE in PV-WAVE prior to version 9.0.
However, we received feedback from customers that the DOUBLE type was not adequate.
So, it was changed to a STRING to be more precise and accommodate larger values.
It was an oversight on our part to not mention this change in the release notes.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
