View Full Version : compressed video?

I am asking this question for a colleague.

Is there any PV-WAVE procedure, production or otherwise, which I can use to convert TVRD frame grabs into a compressed video format? Preferably it would not write out intermediate image files and assemble them with a SPAWN call, but write them directly to the destination file via memory.

I am aware of wave\lib\user\aviwrite.pro, and have worked with it, but it results in large-megabyte files for a few dozen frames. It does not provide any compression from what I can tell. And even though there is a line of code that says:

WRITEU, avilun, 0L ; compression is non comp RGB

... changing it to any other value does not seem to affect the filesize. Any suggestions?

Hi Hcrisp,
You're right... aviwrite.pro does not provide any compression. One possibility you may want to look into is using aviwrite.pro to save a .avi file and then SPAWN a conversion program to convert it into MP4 or similar format.
