View Full Version : what about a wave_tips.dat update?

I'm wondering about the fate of the 'wave_tips.dat' database,
which now dates back to 2002 and whether there is any intent
to update the 'wave_tips.dat' in the future.

It might seem that the entries of this user forum would replace the older,
yet very useful 'tips' tool.
I'd appreciate to have wave_tips.dat updated, especially by the various issues
and themes users are reporting in this forum which are typical problems a
programmer experiences in the creation process of a pv-wave application.

Though requiring some amount of editing work, to merge the users' contributions
and the solutions provided by VNI moderators and members into the 'wave_tips.dat',
it would pay off in a very helpful reference as 'tips' is directly accessable
in the WAVE home window.
Preparing the users' forum entries to fit into 'wave_tips.dat' would also make
the contents of this knowledge base become available in a more coherent form.

The wave_tips.dat file was replaced by a searchable tips database on the VNI web site (http://www.vni.com/tech/pvw/tips.php). You make a good suggestion to take some of the rich content from the forum and add the information to the tips database.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Margaret,

Thanks for Your reference to the VNI 'online tips' which seems
to match the contents of 'wave_tips.dat', at least until 2002.
Could that part of the 'online tips' database which contains
contributions more recent than 2002 be appended to the 'wave_tips.dat'

Unfortunately we no longer offer the PV-WAVE tips as a separate file. The tips database on the VNI website is the only source for the information.
