Hi

We use PV wave 8.5 installed on an UNIX machine. Now we want to move all the applications to a new UNIX server.

Is any installation required to move PV wave?

Is it possible to copy all the files related to PV wave to the new UNIX server and make it work?

Any suggestions on migrating PV Wave to a new UNIX server would be helpful.

thanks
Ashok

Hi ashok.k,
If the two servers are binary compatible you should be able to just copy the PV-WAVE installation directory. Then you will have to obtain a new license file for the new server. You can contact your maintenance rep. for instructions on how to get the new license.

If the path to the directory on the new system is different you need to
recreate the PV-WAVE setup files (wvsetup/wvsetup.sh),
or edit them to change the variable settings.

If you want to use the script to create the PV-WAVE setup files do the following:

Change your directory to the new PV-WAVE directory,
e.g. cd /users/pvwave
Then call the script:
wave/bin/make_wvsetup

OR

Edit the setup files (wvsetup, wvsetup.sh) directly. They are located in <VNI_DIR>/wave/bin.
Where <VNI_DIR> is the new PV-WAVE installation directory.
You need to change the setting for:

VNI_DIR
WAVE_DIR
