View Full Version : Static SETENV

Is there a keyword in SETENV or some other mechanism whereby an environment variable can be accessed in subsequent PV-Wave sessions? I'm using { 80x86 Windows-NT 9.01 i386nt}. We're in the process of migrating from VMS to Windows and TRNLOG is problematic.

Hi Spinman,

No, there are no keywords for SETENV. There are other mechanisms you could use however...

- Knowing the logicals and the values used on the OpenVMS side, you could SAVE the variables and then RESTORE them in subsequent PV-WAVE sessions. There would be some OpenVMS to Windows string parsing and bracket to slash changes needed of course.
- You could edit your WAVE_DIR/bin/wavestartup file to define (SETENV) the environment variables as part of the start up process for every PV-WAVE session.
- You could create a PV-WAVE .pro file that contains all the environment settings you need and then execute that file prior to any other PV-WAVE command in a new session if you don't have permissions to edit the wavestartup file.

If you provide a little more context we might be able to come up with other alternatives to this question.

Cheers, Don B.
