Hi

I am working on PV Wave 8.5 installed on an UNIX server. Oracle Database is also installed on the same UNIX server.

It i try to establish a connection using the following code which database will be connected.

oracle_id = DB_CONNECT(?ORACLE?, ?id/pwd?)

Also if i want to connect to some other database using DB_CONNECT(?ORACLE?, ?id/pwd@DB_Name?) will it connect using the tnsfile?

What is the location of the tnsnames file?

thanks
Ashok

The tnsnames.ora file usually resides in the $ORACLE_HOME\network\admin directory.
Refer to this link for more information: http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/TNSNAMES.ORA
Also, contact your system administrator regarding the Oracle installation on your site.

This command

oracle_id = DB_CONNECT(?ORACLE?, ?id/pwd?)
will connect to the Oracle database running on the local system.

This command

oracle_id = DB_CONNECT(?ORACLE?, ?id/pwd@DB_Name?)
will connect to the Oracle database which connection is describe under DB_Name in the tnsnames.ora file.

Hope this helps.
