Totalview text mode

I am running totalview on a Sun UltraSPARC system. I log on to it from a remote machine, and it seems difficult to send the display over the Internet. What is the syntax for running the program in text mode?

    Re: [H.L] Totalview text mode

The answer to your direct question is to use totalviewcli. Please refer to our Reference guide for a command listing.

The CLI embeds a TCL interpreter and as such is a very powerful tool. However, we still encourage you to use TotalView's GUI which in of itself is very powerful. We do not recommend that you use remote X display over the internet. Instead we would suggest using something like VNC. Please refer to the FAQ: Using TotalView, a X Windows application, on a remote machine, for instructions on setting up VNC. Using VNC would be generally useful for all applications. Many of our developers work exclusively with in VNC so that they can have the same session whether working at work or working at home in the evening.
